Empty Quiver

 Empty Quiver

For Beyond 50's "History" talks, listen to an interview with Tom Davis.  As the U.S. strikes a delicate balancing act between aiding Ukraine and avoiding an escalation with Russia, Davis offers his insights into the history of U.S./Russian relations.  A graduate of West Point, he spent 25 years in the army and once guarded sensitive nuclear sites in Europe.  He'll also give his take on Cold War tensions that he wrote about in his book, "Empty Quiver" that blends historical figures and actual events with a riveting tale that re-imagines what went on behind the scenes in the mid-80s when the Cold War reached a turning point.

Everlasting Love & Love Affair

For Beyond 50's "History" talks, listen to an interview with Patricia and Mick Jackson. She is the wife of Mick Jackson, bass player who played with the band Love Affair during London's swinging '60s. For three years, the group were more popular in Britain as The Beatles.  Their number one hit was "Everlasting Love" - later featured in Kenneth Branagh's 2021 film, "Belfast". Jackson will reveal moments of chaos when the boys were arrested and jailed after climbing Eros or shocking the nation by exposing the music industry's biggest ever cover-up.  Controversy was never far away. Together for 55 years, Mick and Patricia have possibly the longest, happy relationship in the memory of pop.
