Congress, There is a Plan B! Bailout is Not the Answer

For Beyond 50's "Finance" talks, listen to an interview with Harley Schlanger of the Lyndon LaRouche Political Action Committee (PAC). He offers an even better solution to America's economic collapse that's not a hyper-inflationary bailout. Free trade policies and deregulation are the primary causes of the global financial crisis. The answer lies in learning from the past through President Franklin Roosevelt programs to do a Bankruptcy Reoganization; offering government credits to build the nation's infrastructure; and doing away with globalization.  Beyond 50's Secret Shopper:
America's Largest Christmas Bazaar, Part 2 of 2

If you missed the annual America's Largest Christmas Bazaar in Portland that had 900 booths, we've got it covered.  Beyond 50 is always on the lookout for what's trendy, unique and innovative.

The beekeeper behind the booth easily proved that his raw honey was better tasting than the commercial, store-bought kind that has corn starch in it.  Another food vendor displayed candied nuts that were creatively flavored.  The Key Lime Almonds was delicious and the Lemon Honey Almonds tasted exactly like the cocoa puffs cereal.

If you've had trouble keeping gift wrapping paper on its roll, the inventor of The Wrapper Slapper solved the problem so you don't have anymore wasted paper due to torn edges.  Brilliant!

Dogs seem to love getting shampooed with mink oil.  Their hair becomes so SOFT.  And, no more dry and scaly skin.  If you'd like to detoxify your own skin, try this soap made of actived charcoal that can adsorb 1000X its own weight in pollution and free radicals.  When you have tired muscles, use a natural hot pepper with cocoa butter skin cream.  You can amplify it with a warm towel or low-heat electric pad.

For the healthiest e-cigarette on the market, these products have non-toxic ingredients and come in a variety of flavors: clove, vanilla, mocha and chocolate.

There was a solution for those who have hearing loss and can't hear phone conversations.  It's a captioned telephone so you can digitally read every word the other person is saying.  The captions also appear on outgoing calls.  There's even Spanish-to-Spanish captioning available.

And, if you've felt physically uncomfortable from the heat of a sauna, try this far infrared thermal therapy.  You can sit down in the cozily warm cedar box that only covers you up to the waist area below the heart.  It's the ultimate in detoxing the whole body to improve a whole range of health conditions.

Ho' oponopono from Hawaii & Understanding Hypnotherapy

When bestselling author Joe Vitale heard stories about a remarkable Hawaiian doctor who healed a ward of mentally ill criminals completely without ever meeting them in person using Ho'oponopono, he was intrigued and wrote about it in "Zero Limits." For Beyond 50's "Personal Growth" talks, listen to an interview with Dr. Ihaleakala Hew Len, the actual healer about how to use this method for yourself that teaches "total responsibility" for everything that is in your life, "cleaning" the negativity, and to reconnect with the Divine. Afterwards, Matthew Brownstein, the Executive Director of the Florida Institute of Hynotherapy will explain about effectively treating conditions (about 30 - 50%) that are psychosomatic (originating from the mind) using hypnotherapy. Our memories are stored in the subconscious mind, and have within them beliefs, which cause our emotions, which can manifest as symptoms in our bodies. The Betrayal of Manhood:
Pop Culture's Reinforcement
of
Men Will Be Boys
For Beyond 50's "Personal Growth" talk, listen to an interview with Paul Dunion, Ed.D., LPC.  He'll discuss about the distored social standards of manhaood.  TV commercials, even dramas depict caricatures of men who reflect the "boys will be boys" mentality, and the frustrated women conditioned to condone this behavior.  Are we really amused?  You'll also learn about the
similarities between the characteristics of boyish men and psychopaths; how collusion of women - albeit reluctant - helps keep men in an adolescent holding pattern; and how to overcome feelings of inadequacy for failing to live up to cultural caricatures of "manhood" and embrace one's own values.

 Beyond 50's Secret Shopper:
America's Largest Christmas Bazaar, Part 1 of 2

If you missed the annual America's Largest Christmas Bazaar in Portland that had 900 booths, we've got it covered.  Beyond 50 is always on the lookout for what's trendy, unique and innovative.

Borrowing from the idea of the e-cigarette, the vendor took a vaporized puff of an herbal botanical.  She said that the products are calming.  For more calm, you can take a shower with an aroma to it.  Got pain? No problem!  This spray does the trick because it contains grape seed oil (an anti-inflammatory) that is a carrier and goes faster and deeper into the tissues than pharmaceutical pain pills.

For an emergency, get this colorful weave bracelet made of several feet of paracord.  When you unwind it, there's over 550 uses it for it: from rigging a makeshift tow rope to building a shelter and making a fishing line.  Strip the
paracord and you'll see single fibers to use for sewing up a wound.  Another lifesaver is an emergency, solar energy keychain charger for your electronic devices like cell phone, digital camera, and laptop.  And for the woman who wants to feel safer, get the cutesy-looking pepper spray containers that look like a perfume spray bottle.  It shoots 16 ft.

Too bad about the vendors who didn't have samples of alligator tail (beef jerky), holiday cookies laced in edible gold from England, and the bacon dipped in maple and callebaut (rated #2 best dark chocolate in the world).

If you really want to be a hit with the kids this Christmas, we've saved the best gift-giving item for last.  It's the latest evolvement of video gaming called Augmented Reality and all the rage on the East Coast.  The vendor dropped an artsy looking round paper disc on the floor that had a micro-chip in it.  And using an iPhone, you can see the dragon come out of the paper, which you follow and shoot.  The app to download all the games (even new ones to come) is FREE!  You don't have to invest in expensive gaming equipment like an XBox with discs anymore!  And, the kids really move around a lot to play it.

24 Future Industries Creating Super Employment

Beyond 50 would like to thank Futurist, Thomas Frey, and the World Futurist Society for allowing us to share these upcoming employment trends. We've  had him on the show in the past and he's always a fascinating guest.

According to Frey, “disruptive innovation” disrupts an existing industry and “catalytic innovations” have the ability to produce entirely new industries.

Future jobs are being created every hour of every day in the minds of visionary thinkers.  But only the true catalytic innovators are creating entire new industries.

Here are a number of both emerging and rapid growth industries that will be employing millions of people in the coming years:

1. Atmospheric Water Harvesting - Since we all depend on the rains to provide the water we need, what if we could extract this rain at the very time and place we need it? On-demand water harvesters are being developed by a new breed of inventors wanting to tackle this exact problem.
2. Commercial Drone Industry
3. Software Developers -
There is now a massive push to teach coding as a fundamental skill like math, reading, and writing.  Developers will be our chief innovators in the future. The push for new talent is driving salaries well into the six-figure range.
4. Mobile Apps -  With over 2 million apps currently available for download on smartphones, next generation apps will be for smart shoes, smart homes, smart guitars, and much more.
5. Our Trillion-Sensor Future
6. 3D Printing - It is currently making inroads into everything from pharmaceutical drugs, to food, to antibodies and new life forms, to clothing and shoes.  It may be bigger than the internet.
7. Cancer Immunotherapy
8. LEDs
9. Big Data
10. Internet of Things

11. Natural Gas
12. Wind Power
13. Solar Power
14. Mass Energy Storage -
We are now entering the early growth stages of what will surely become a huge global industry – energy storage.
15. Micro Grid Conversion - Along with massive new power storage systems, the electric utilities world is about to begin the transition from national grids to micro grids.
16. Hperspeed Transportation System - Vacuum tube transport is not just a great idea; it’s becoming a moral imperative. Ships and planes are polluting our oceans and skies faster than nature can clean it up.  This is a solution that will not only solve all those problems; it will create over 100 million jobs along the way.
17. Contour Crafted Houses - Through 3-D printing, it’s ability to print an entire house in less than a day, it can be used to eliminate slums, help rebuild areas after a natural disasters, and even build large buildings and
luxury homes with custom architectural features that can be changed with only a few clicks of a mouse.
18. Driverless Everything
19. Bio-Factories
20. Micro-Colleges

21. Smart Homes -
The programmable home is still in its early stages but it’s gathering strength, driven by three complementary trends: first and foremost, the smartphone revolution; second, improved standards for low-power,
inexpensive and highly reliable wireless communications; and finally, ever-decreasing barriers to invention due to increased automation of manufacturing technologies.
22. Senior Living
23. Same-Day Home Delivery -
The same-day delivery space is getting pretty crowded.  Amazon, Google, and eBay offer local, same-day deliver services (in limited markets), as do startups like PostMates, Deliv, TaskRabbit and WunWun.
24. 24-Hour Cities - As we continue down the path of automation, virtually every city will have 24-hour convenience stores, 24-hour libraries, 24-hour banks, 24-hour churches, 24-hour schools, 24-hour movie theaters, 24-hour bars and restaurants, and even 24-hour shopping centers.

For Beyond 50's "Natural Healing" talks, listen to an interview with Julie Valenti of the Wisdom and Recovery Wellness Center.  She'll talk about the neurological wiring that forms during our childhood - specifically focusing on memory and the hormonal baselines that gets created (hard wired) by our family environment. As infants, our survival depends on the ability to attach and when that attachment is compromised in any way, a set of stress (fight or flight) hormones get activated.  Once hard-wired by that hormonal activity, the brain memorized that in which it can survive and we literally recreate similar dynamics in all our future relationships.& nbsp; Because the brains main purpose is to keep the organism alive....change is seen as risky. This then results in adult attachment dynamics and conflicts, similar to those one had as a child.  Therefore setting one up to continue to reenact dysfunctional relationships in most area of our lives and especially in intimate/bonded relationships.
