12 p.m. (PT)/2 p.m. (Central)/3 p.m. (ET)
A Live & Online Broadcast

For Beyond 50's "Political" talks, listen to an interview with Dr. Jane Orient.  She has served as the Executive Director of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons since 1989.  She'll talk about what it would take to make American Medicine great again.  It's by addressing the root of the problem: the tax code and Medicare.  Her first proposal it sto stop the Big Lie of the Social Security/Medicare system and abolish the payroll tax.  According to Dr. Orient, neither ObamaCare nor Medicare is really insurance.  In fact, they outlaw true insurance for medical care and force most people into a beggar-thy-neighbor prepayment scheme.   ObamaCare loots Medicare to help fund the scheme.  Some Republican proposals would impose Medicare risk-adjustment methods on the whole economy — without admitting that the system is insolvent.

PG-50+ Movie Reviews
Beyond 50 only recommends films that are creatively responsible to reveal the finest qualities of the human spirit; allow you to think and feel deeply about life; make your heart soar; and champion human rights.

Southside with You
An engaging film, it's an insightful and intimate portrayal of the early relationship dynamics between Barack Obama and Michelle Robinson on their first date and first kiss during the summer of 1989 in Chicago.  Both were associates at a local law firm where she was his superior.  He is a bit of a pick-up-artist, inviting her to a community meeting, but first stopping by an art gallery to show off his appreciation of an African American painting made famous on the show, "Good Times."  Michelle is wary of going on a date with him to avoid a bad reputation at work.  While at the community meeting, Barack gives an uplifting speech to the angry church group to help them find common ground.  They both understand their position as well-educated, Black leaders who can affect change.  As a last stop, they watch the film, "Do the Right Thing" by Spike Lee.  (Available in Theatres Everywhere; Genre: Drama, Biopic; Running Time: 84 min.)

Florence Foster Jenkins
Florence is a wealthy heiress and passionate patron of the performing arts in New York City.  She has a deep longing to sing opera, but can't sing.  An endearing and funny film, it brings up the question of whether the public should support earnest performances by those lacking talent.  Florence's doting, younger husband St. Clair provides the emotional support she needs.  He manages to make her dream come true: performing at Carnegie Hall to a packed audience.  He pulls off the impossible by paying for a voice coach, pianist, reviewers, and lots of attendees who are willing to flatter her, despite being way off-key.   (Available in Theatres Everywhere; Genre: Comedy, Drama; Running Time: 110 min.)

Floyd Norman: An Animated Life
Floyd Norman made history as the first African American animator at Disney and the only artist in the world to work personally for both Walt and Pixar.  At the age of 6, he knew his life's profession after seeing the cartoon movie, "Dumbo."  The studio hired him, even though he was told that a Black would never get hired there.  This documentary is a loving tribute to a pleasant man known as the "Forrest Gump of Animation."  He contributed his talents to iconomic films like "Sleeping Beauty," "101 Dalmations," "Mary Poppins," "The Jungle Book" and more.  Norman was forced to retire at 65 by Disney HR.  He refused to stop working.  Now in his 80s, he continues to draw, serving as an artist and mentor.  (Available in Select Theatres; Genre: Documentary; Running Time: 94 min.)
