Primal Body - Primal Mind
Primal Body Primal Mind

For Beyond 50's "Natural Healing" talks, listen to an interview with Nora Gedgaudas. She'll explain how to empower our total health the way evolution intended (and didn't). Based on "Paleolithic Diets" of the past, you'll understand about the selective pressures that designed our Primal physiology. The information can help you to burn unwanted fat in record time, easily and effortlessly; skyrocket the quantity and quality of your energy; radically improve your memory; save yourself untold hours at the gym; and much more.

Here are some ideas about Caveman Diets:
  • Eating a diet as similar as possible to what our ancestors ate is purely common sense and based entirely on how we have been genetically molded for the vast majority of human evolution.
  • The Prehistoric Food Pyramid consists of 3 tiers: grass-fed meat/wild game and fat, sometimes seafood; fibrous/non-starchy vegetables as desired and available; and at the top level are nuts and seed groups, along with fruits and berries when in season in small servings.
  • The development of an oxygen-based atmosphere allowed for the utilization of fat as an energy source. In the evolution of more complex organisms such as mammals, it is fat that serves as the primary, efficient source of fuel. Leptin, then - the key "fat sensor" in the body - controls and regulates all our energy stores via the hypothalamus, which manages the signals given to every other hormone in the body. No matter what, leptin is always key.
  • Eating fat can help you lose fat. This seems counterintuitive, but you can satisfy hunger by eating enough fat to satiate appetite - thereby teaching your body to burn fat rather than sugar for fuel - thus, maximizing your metabolic efficiency.

The 24-Hour Diet

Beyond 50 also recommends that your read "The 24-Hour Diet" by Professor Brian Peskin that similarly breaks the myths and long-held, erroneous ideas about eating.

Our favorite one by Peskin debunks what a lot of nutritionists and doctors teach about calories:
Popular opinion belives that calories are all that count. All that matters is: calories in - calories "burned up" = fatness.

Scientific fact disproves that. Dr. Adolph Fick disproved the calorie theory in 1893! Calories DO count, but not in the way they're telling you. The human body is NOT a heat engine like a furnace that burns fuel (food) for heat. We are eating for structure - to make muscles, hormones, enzymes, antibodies, cell membranes, nerve structures, etc.
