An American Shaolin in China
Shaolin Monk

With the Olympics coming up this month, Beyond 50 would like to introduce the amazing feats of the Shaolin monks in China. Many have trained for most of their life to walk 9 steps along a wall; practice Iron Shirt kungfu to make their body impervious to harm; do a handstand on two fingers; levitate; and more. It's an ascetic and disciplined life, like for the Olympians competing this month.

If you'd like an idea of what it's like to train with the monks, listen to an interview with Matthew Polly, the author of "American Shaolin". He spent two years under the tutelage of Masters of Kungfu.
