Listen to a Beyond 50 interview with Marine Captain Brian Steidle who was able to gain access to the part of Darfur, Sudan where no journalist could penetrate. He was fired upon, taken hostage and unable to intervene. Capt. Steidle captured the crisis using on-the-ground video and took 1,000 photographs (that had to be smuggled out) for his film called "The Devil Came on Horseback."

A "Green Drink" Recipe for You

Beyond 50 is an avid follower of Victoria Boutenko, a raw foods expert. For over 6-months, we've been drinking green, leafy vegetables by blending them with water, other vegetables and fruits. Our health has definitely improved!

Within Victoria's book, "Green for Life," she wrote about conducting a Roseburg Study (in Roseburg, Oregon) of 27 volunteers who agreed to drink one quart of "green smoothies" every day, along with their usual diet for one month. Many had experienced a wide range of benefits such as a more alkaline body, higher level of hydrochloric acid in the stomach for better digestion, weight loss, less craving for unhealthy foods, better bowel movement, more energy, sleep better, skin condition improved, and much more.

Try "Green Benevolence"
Blend Well in a Regular Blender:
6 to 8 leaves of Romaine lettuce
1 cup of red grapes
1 medium orange
1 banana
2 cups water
Yields: 1 quart of smoothie

When Making "Green Drinks"
1. Keep the drinks in cool temperatures for up to three days, which can be handy at work and while traveling.
2. Use a wide variety of greens. Try to get a hold of as many different greens as you can. If you continue to use the same greens, you can expect to lose your desire for green smoothies.
